What we're working on...
March update
We are continuing to work on our unit about animals this month. Students have been reading the book "¿Oso Pardo, Oso Pardo, Qué ves ahí?" ("Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What do you see?"). They made a storytelling wheel to help them retell the story in Spanish. We are going to read a couple more books about animals to help the students keep practicing the new vocabulary. Please refer to the vocabulary from the February post because we are going to keep working on that for the next few weeks. Gracias!

February update
We finished up our unit about body parts in Spanish. Students read the book "De la cabeza a los pies" ("From head to toe"), written by Eric Carle. This book talked about different animals and the movement of their body parts. Each class made a book to keep in their classroom. Each student was responsible for writing a page to publish into the book. They wrote a sentence (in Spanish!) about one body part and drew a picture of themself moving that part of their body. The books turned out great!
We just started our unit on animals and the students are having a lot of fun with this. We read the book, "Eight Animals on the Town", which is a bilingual book that helps reinforce the Spanish vocabulary for animals. Students got a chance to pretend that they were the animals and got to move around and dance like the animals. It was a good time! Next, we will be reading the book, "¿Oso Pardo, Oso Pardo, Qué ves ahí?" ("Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What do you see?"), also written by Eric Carle. This will help us continue our unit on animals. The students will make a storytelling wheel that will help them retell the story. The students are working hard and making lots of progress!
Here is the vocabulary for animals:
-el perro (the dog)
-el gato (the cat)
-el conejo (the rabbit/bunny)
-el pájaro (the bird)
-el ratón (the rat/mouse)
-la granja (the farm)
-la vaca (the cow)
-el caballo (the horse)
-el cerdo (the pig)
-la oveja (the sheep)
-el pato (the duck)
-la gallina (the hen)
-el gallo (the rooster)
